Fatty Liver Disease

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is one of the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a term used to describe the accumulation of fat in the liver of people who drink little or no alcohol.

SYMPTOMS

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease actually causes no signs and symptoms. When it does, they may include:

Weight loss

Facts About Stomach (Gastric) Cancer

Stomach cancer is the 6th most common cancer in men and 9th most common cancer in women in Singapore. This is largely due to the prevalence of helicobacter pylori infection in Asians and also diet. However, it is the 4th most common cause of cancer death in Singapore in both men and women. This is often due to diagnosis of the cancer at a late stage when curative treatment is not possible.

COLORECTAL CANCER IN SINGAPORE

The incidence of colorectal cancer has been steadily increasing in both males and females over the last 20 years. It has become the most common cancer in Singapore with almost 1000 new cases diagnosed every year. It is only second to breast cancer in the female and lung cancer in the male.

The lifetime risk for the average Singaporean is about 1 in 55. Singapore has one of the highest incidences of the cancer in Asia. The incidence of colorectal cancer starts to increase rapidly from around the age of 50. Among the races in Singapore, Chinese have a disproportionately higher incidence of the disease.
